Linghurst Lakes was handed over to Lound Parish Council by Tarmac in January 2004.

The restoration of the quarried areas was a condition of Tarmac being allowed to quarry this area near the village.  Nottinghamshire County Council approved and monitored the scheme and when it had been completed satisfactorily by Tarmac it was handed over to the Parish to maintain in perpetuity.

The Linghurst Lakes Sub Committee set up in late 2002, an offshoot of the Parish Council, manages the park on their behalf . This  Sub-Committee consists of 6 parishioners, including a minimum of two serving Parish Councillors.

The area, although there is some emphasis on it being a nature reserve, is seen by the Parish Council as a “Nice place for Parishioners to Walk.”
