FCC who operate Daneshill Landfill site having had their planning application put into abeyance after the secretary of state overruled it have now applied to the EA for a permit to treat 50,000 tonnes per year of hazardous sludge and waste comprising of asbestos, oil spills, chemical spills, municipal residues, street residues, ‘other construction waste including hazardous materials’ – all the details linked below, there is clearly a high risk of leaching into the primary drinking water aquifer, adjacent Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest which shares a boundary with the site, not to mention risks to residents and local farmland and wildlife.
